My Painfully Slow Job Search

It has been a while since I blogged about work.

In keeping with the law of attraction and knowing that I can control my thoughts, I have been trying to focus on the more positive aspects of my life.

For instance, my 5 year old son read books to me this morning during some special pre-work cuddle time. He's reading! When did that happen!?!?!?

But to provide an update on the job search, I am still searching, but have narrowed my scope. After thinking more about moving my family and giving up the rich community of friends and neighbors I have spent 9 years cultivating, I have decided I do not want to move my family just to get away from an asshole boss. So, I am looking only locally for a while and we'll see what happens. A couple executives are expected to retire in the next two years and I may be well positioned for those jobs, but time will tell.

Thanks for all the support.

What a sweet moment. It makes me look forward to that myself.

I think it makes sense to want to stay where you feel connected. We were even talking about moving cross town and had similar feelings that we like our neighbors and our location and don't want to move.

I am trying to cultivate that work is something that fits around all of the other things in my life and makes things possible for my life, but it isn't my life. An interesting shift -- but it really is taking me away from my doing and more into my being.

PS -- How's your Dad. I have been thinking about him lately.

What will be will be and when the opportunity presents itself, you will know waht to do... just don't close the door to possibilities outside your comfort zone. Sometimes the best adventures that transform our lives for the better are actually quite scarry. Good luck.

To answer your composting question -- right now I just have a pile of kitchen scraps in my back yard -- 3/4 green waste, 1/4 brown waste (dry sticks and leaves) is what he told me. We ordered a composting box that should come soon, and then I will move it in there. So far it just feels good to not throw the scraps in the garbage.

I am also thinking of starting worm composting. He told me when he lived in a co-op he had worm composting under his bed -- they stay in plastic bins. I think the boys would love it.

I wanted to thank you for the OSH gift card you sent a while ago. I used it this past weekend to buy plants for the garden, so now I have tomatoes, corn, zucchini, green beans, cantaloupe, and strawberry plants growing in the back. Lucas and I had fun planting them. We are also sprouting some seeds and hope to add some more crops in a few weeks -- sunflowers, peppers, watermelon, carrots, spinach, lettuce, peas and yellow squash.

It is a fun adventure!
